I used to work here back in 2008 and all the wannabe cops on power trips pretend like they're saving the world by sitting around with guns they'll never use. It's a good ol' boy network if you wanna keep your job here. All the local townies from Red Wing only tend to hire friends and family. It's the Minnesota way you know. Not part of the clique? Well they'll just use their tried and true underhanded methods to make you quit. What a wonderful place full of arrogant narcissists who like to pass the buck and blame everybody else for their mistakes. Way to go PINGP! Hurrah for the NRC! Just another government thug agency to take away more of our rights!

I love the pool. Go deep diving all the time although it gets a bit warm at the bottom and my six fingers start to wrinkle.

Much nicer facility then I've toured elsewhere. Although Ukraine was beautiful its Chernobyl power plant was lack luster and felt abandoned. Of course I understand payroll cut backs but this seemed excessive.

Pool was warm, heated to almost unbearable temps but it felt like taking a bath, so it wasn't too bad. Go between 2 and 4 a.m., as the lifeguards fall asleep quite often and won't get mad if you bring your dog swimming with you. Got kicked out and banned from the facility the first time I went, but my hair has been falling out at a slightly concerning rate and I've lost most of my teeth, so they no longer recognize me.

Between me and you; a secret. If you can tell security a really good joke about uranium's unstable temper, they'll let you come in and fish in their pool. You may think uranium-fed fish would taste bad, but they actually taste rather good. Plus you get roughly 150% more fish per fish because of the extra tail. I will have to agree with some other reviewers however in that the pool does get rather hot. They also wouldn't put the rods down to cool the place down, because something something losing money.

Disappointed to see misunderstood statements on here. I do not work for XCEL Energy, but I will set the record straight-XCEL runs both PI and Monticello safely and reliably. Costs are coming into line for the overall nuclear portfolio so that these units can provide the foundation for sustained significant carbon reduction efforts in the next ten years - XCEL is a national leader in this effort. I worked at both plants for over 20 years both as an engineer and in leadership. I sleep soundly knowing how they are designed, the attitude of the people operating them, maintaining them, testing them and their continuous pursuit of being better every day. Every person there has a family and skin in the game to protect their loved ones and the public. I served in the Emergency Response Organizatuon as well, and they are trained and vigilant for anything that can happen. Much has been learned in the last ten years that only makes the facilities even more ready for equipment concerns. The money being spent on capital projects will provide sustained reliably until their license ends. I am retired now but I am very proud of their standards and their unbending sacrifice to respond as needed to keep those plants running like they were designed for.
